President Obama’s skeet-shooting pic is a terrible idea

Skeet, skeet, skeet!

Skeet, skeet, skeet!

President Barack Obama just doesn’t get it, apparently.  Somehow, after four years and two weeks in the White House, and all the time before that he spent on the campaign trail, putting up with everything Republicans have hurled at him, he still hasn’t learned his lesson.  What is it going to take, Mr. President, for you to realize you just can’t win with these people?

The White House recently released the photo we’re showing here, depicting President Obama skeet shooting at Camp David back in August.  Why did they give the world this fairly mundane picture?  Because President Obama’s integrity has yet again been called into question, following the president’s statement that he went skeet shooting “all of the time.”  Republicans were pretty sure Obama was lying about that.  I’m sure everyone was completely stunned to hear that republicans had lobbed a criticism of that magnitude toward the president.  Really blown away and gutted… definitely.

Already, the criticism is pouring in from all over the internet, like clockwork.  Conservatives are claiming the image was shot (no pun intended) in front of a green screen.  That he isn’t holding the rifle correctly.  That he seems to be aiming straight ahead, while clay pigeons are shot at when they’re up in the air, meaning he’s shooting at something that isn’t a clay pigeon.  Maybe it’s a person?  Maybe it’s a copy of the Constitution, or a miniature, life-sized model of the Statue of Liberty, or maybe he dug up Ronald Reagan for a little target practice?  No one can be sure, but he definitely isn’t shooting clay targets, and whatever he really is shooting at, it’s definitely un-American that he’s pulling that trigger!

President Obama really should know better than this by now.  Just his birth certificate fiasco alone should have left him with the same understanding that all of his supporters have worked out already.  No matter what he does, regardless of how hard he tries, President Obama will never get a positive or even neutral reaction out of these people.  Never-ever.  It’s gotten to the point where most Americans, be they liberal, centrist, or moderate-conservative, are left scratching their heads whenever they see President Obama trying as hard as he often does to set the record straight with people who blame poor weather on him… literally.  Most of us agree that he should simply ignore them, and focus on the many tasks that lay before him.  But for reasons unbeknownst to any of us, he simply can’t resist the urge to try and prove them wrong.

Most of the American population lives in the real world.  President Obama isn’t a Muslim or a socialist.  He never held secret meetings with terrorists, and he didn’t strategize his first presidential campaign with Bill Ayers.  His birth certificate isn’t a fraud; he’s our legitimate president.  There wasn’t some shady Benghazi cover-up.  FEMA isn’t building death camps, Obamacare never threatened to euthanize the elderly, he wasn’t sworn into office on a copy of the Koran, he wasn’t involved in a gay orgy murder (nor is he a homosexual), he was never a Black Panther, he didn’t get a nose job, he wrote his own love letters, the unemployment figures are real, and no, he doesn’t desperately need a teleprompter, moreso than any other public speaker in contemporary history.

We all know that, Mr. President.  Don’t pander to the small and insignificant minority of lunatics that believe any of that stuff in that last paragraph is true.  Don’t play their game, sir.  The United States of America was around long before their parents forget to wear condoms, and it’ll be around long after they die in a tragic meth lab explosion.  You will never, ever convince these people of your worth.  So long as you remain president, there will be people who oppose you and want desperately to delegitimize your presidency in any way, shape, or form they can.  It’s best to just ignore them.  Because the rest of us, especially those of us who voted for you, are all hoping that you’ll stay focused on the tasks at hand, and not waste your precious time trying to prove these idiots wrong.  They’re idiots.  Let’s just leave it at that.
