Zombies. We all love them. Some of us more than others. If you’re like me, then you’re pretty upset at the Mayans for getting our hopes up that the world was going to end on 12-21-12, and the zombie apocalypse would happen. But, then again, my hopes were up that the zombie apocalypse would happen 12 years before hand, during the millennium change, when the world was supposed to come to a crashing halt because humans, apparently, can’t live without technology. I had a small glimmer of hope that the world would end in 2001, when the new millennium would actually start, but once again was disappointed.
Back to 12-21-12. When I first heard about the Mayan prophecy, I was a skeptic. I mean, come on. The 2000 hype was a big let down, why would this one be any different? Oh right. Nostradamus, and the Gregorian tribe also predicted the world to end around that time, the CDC came out with a zombie survival guide, zombies ended the vampire obsession, and big companies loved that the pop culture had created this brainless phenomenon that gave pop culture something they can relate to, (see what I did there?), one of America’s top TV shows was/is “The Walking Dead”, a show based on the zombie apocalypse, not to mention that naked people were running around eating each other in a zombie like state for no apparent reason. Now that I think about it though, maybe those are the reasons it didn’t happen. We were expecting it. Or maybe Max Brooks has the right idea, when he wrote the book “World War Z”, explaining how 12-21-12 was when the zombie virus was born in China, and how it took a few months to travel around, until the real outbreak in August of 2013. Seriously. Have you seen China’s air lately? They freaking have to chew on the air to be able to breath. NOO! Hopes! Come down from there!! You’re only going to fall, and get hurt again!!
Hi. I’m Maray. I will be your zombie expert here at Obscure Republic. I’m the go to person if you have any questions regarding zombies. Also, if you have any questions about The Powerpuff Girls, feel free to ask about them too. I may know more about that show than the creator, Craig McCracken.
